10 Things about Kathryn

Fave food: roast dinner with Yorkshire puddings and gravy (showing my true northern roots) followed by rhubarb crumble and custard

First memory of horses: being led round the garden of a hotel we stayed at near Tenby, on a bay pony called Stroller. Every night they offered these pony rides and they were the highlight of my stay.

Proudest equestrian moment: Wilbur winning the Chiltern and Thames Dressage Championships at medium level in 2016. Cantering around the arena for our lap of honour with him wearing his sash was exhilarating.

Fave film: A Star is Born, the 2018 remake with Bradley Cooper and Lady GaGa. The music is phenomenal.

Fave TV programme: Would I Lie to You – they should prescribe this on the NHS, especially when Bob Mortimer is a guest. I laugh out loud the whole way through.

Proudest non-equestrian moment: Completing my first (and last, so far) half marathon just 11 months after taking up running.

Fave place: I’ll have to give two here, Pendle Hill and the village of Barley nestled at its base in Lancashire where I rode as a child and Brancaster beach in Norfolk. I love watching Mole have the “zoomies” on the sand.

Any hobbies apart from horses and running? I’m learning to play the drums, which I absolutely love and was a childhood dream of mine. I also love yoga and Mole and I enjoy stand-up paddleboarding together (yes, really!).

Fave book: The Shell Seekers by Rosamund Pilcher – it’s the one and only book I’ve ever read which really drew me in emotionally and I never wanted to finish it.

Life motto: Live, love, laugh.
